Birthday Party

Stephanie was at the Institute Building last night. She was anxiously anticipating her birthday and was really excited about it. She had overheard someone say something about a surprise party or something, and though she didn't want to ruin the surprise, she really hoped the rumors were true.

She was finishing up some last minute things when she heard the door open and a whole crowd of people walk in. Pretty much everyone in the branch was there and they were acting really weird. Ohh, she thought excitedly, maybe this is the surprise! I certainly wouldn't've expected a surprise the night before my birthday.

They saw her, but Stephanie noticed they didn't make eye contact. They're probably avoiding her gaze so as to not make her suspect anything. Well they certainly aren't doing a very good job at it, she thought!

They congregated in the library, which was no small feat since there were around 15 of them. They discussed with each other in hushed tones.

"So that's the plan, is it?" someone asked.

"I don't know if it'll work," said another. "I mean, to just kick someone out like that..."

"Yeah, it's not their fault."

Stephanie, meanwhile, had tiptoed closer to the window, crouching down to stay hidden under the window.

"No, it has to be done," said the leader. "If we have good evidence that a someone's a werewolf, they don't deserve to be among us anymore. I don't care if it's Christmas, Easter, or even their birthday."

Stephanie froze.

How dare they? How dare they kick her out of the group, especially on her birthday? After all she had done for them, and with the Talent Show coming up and everything. Well fine, she thought. If they don't want me here, then fine.

She got up and went into the foyer. She didn't care if they saw her at this point. She plopped down on one of the couches and waited for them to come out, mentally composing her furious retort when they approach her.

After a few minutes of doing that, during which she managed to weave ignoble, lewd, and mingy into the tirade, Men walked in.

"Men!" she asked said, startled. "What are you doing here?" She knew full well what he was doing, she was just waiting for the proof.

"Well, everyone said they're here and wanted to me to come to the building to discuss something with them."

That's it, she thought. He's just here to help throw me out. Fine, I'll play along, she thought. The two of them then talked for a few minutes.

Just then, the library door opened and the crowd of people spilled out. They saw Men and then saw Stephanie and looked surprised. Did they hear what they were discussing?

"Men," said one of them. "We need you to leave. Now. Permanently."

Men and Stephanie both looked shocked. "What did I do?" said Men.

"We all know you're a werewolf. However, we just can't have you among us. We respect your... issue... but we can't have you endanger the rest of us.

After a while of fairly peaceful discussion, during which Stephanie was completely ignored. Men finally got up and left and was never really seen again.

They turned to Stephanie, "Sorry for ignoring you during this whole thing. We didn't want to ruin your birthday by aiding in the removal of one of our friends from the group."

"That's okay," she thought. "Although, you may have made a mistake."

"A mistake?" someone asked.

"Yeah, well, Men and I were talking just now and he said he's taken up some new habits." She thought back to the conversation she had with him just as he came in. "Y'see, I don't think Men's a werewolf. He spent the whole night last night practicing with his new sword. He's recently become a Samurai. He was also dying all his clothes pink because he's a Cupid too. He's got some weird hobbies..."

Five people in the room, who were all secretly werewolves in disguise, could barely control a twitch on their lips. If you were looking closely, you could see them smile just a little bit.
